UCC Fencing club was formed to promote Fencing in cork, and to introduce people to this exciting sport. We give students an opportunity to try a new sport in a safe and fun environment. We cater exclusively to UCC and Erasmus students and is entirely free to these students, including all the gear.
One of the top Fencing clubs in Ireland, UCC Fencing club caters to beginners and experienced Fencers alike. We pride ourselves on being a warm, welcoming club that provides not only the opportunity to learn a new sport, but to make new friends. Joining a new club in university is a great way to settle in to your new life, and our club integrates both the social and athletic sides of the sport excellently.
Fencing training begins in September and continues throughout the year. We are a beginner-oriented club with a strong emphasis on introducing people to the sport who would not have had the chance otherwise.
Training takes place in Hall 1 of the Mardyke Arena:
Monday: 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Thursday: 7:30 – 9:00 pm
We run Core/Strength and conditioning training to improve general fitness which can contribute to your Fencing. These classes are entirely optional but are recommended for health and fitness benefits. Classes take place at:
Wednesdays: 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Additional classes run on Saturdays but may not start until further into the first semester, and announcements will be made when these are available. These classes will be on at:
Saturdays: 4:00 – 7:00 pm
